San Diego 55 Plus Communities

Posted by Lise Marquis

55 plus communities in San Diego are very popular for younger seniors looking for an inclusive area filled with similar people.

However, a 55 plus community is different than independent livingTo learn if a 55 plus community or an independent living community is best for you, please feel free to contact me for help.

These communities are also very different than assisted living.

In a 55+ neighborhood everyone is at least 55 years of age or older, but there are no meals, amenities or assistance given.

55 plus neighborhoods can be condominiums, single family homes, or mobile/manufactured homes.  San Diego County has all categories.

(Purchasing a single family home is different than purchasing a mobile home.  With a mobile home purchase, you buy the home and lease the land it sits on. Mobile homes are generally more affordable than single family homes.)

Benefits of over 55 Communities in San Diego

55+ neighborhoods do not allow children and offer a slower, yet still somewhat active, lifestyle.

55 plus communities generally have common areas with some activities. Some have golf courses, swimming pools, and club houses. Some may be part of a country club.

And they almost always have HOA fees to cover roads and common area maintenance.

The majority of 55 plus communities in San Diego County are in the north, both inland and coastal.

The reason they are not linked to a website is because these are residential neighborhoods, not organizations, so there is no website for their neighborhoods.  A local realtor can tell you more.
