Alzheimer's Care Facility

Are you searching for an Alzheimer’s Care Facility in San Diego County?
If your loved one has dementia, you know how challenging their care can be.
Every day activities like getting dressed, eating, bathing, and using the toilet can become more and more difficult as time goes on.
And caring for someone with dementia can be a full-time job. It not only requires expertise and skill, but lots of time and patience.
As difficult as it may be, the time could come when the responsibility of care giving simply becomes too much.
If your family is struggling, placing your loved one in an Alzheimer’s care facility in San Diego County may be the answer.
Also known as “dementia care” or “memory care”, these are specialized communities that can keep your loved one safe, assist with daily personal needs, and provide life enhancing programs.
What Are My Alzheimer's or Dementia Care Options?
Full Alzheimer’s Care Facility
In San Diego County we have dozens of communities specifically set up for memory care. They do not double as general assisted living communities.
All residents have dementia, including Alzheimer’s, or a related memory disorder.
And all day to day activities and structures are set up for their residents with dementia.
These communities are always secured to ensure every residents safety.
Dementia Care with Assisted Living
Many assisted living communities in San Diego County also have a separate memory care floor or area. These units are appropriate for anyone with a diagnosis of dementia.
This can be an especially good choice for a senior with Mild Cognitive Impairment or the early stages of dementia, when living in assisted living is still possible. Then if and when cognitive function declines, your loved one can transition from the assisted living portion of the community to the memory care.
Board and Care Home
Board and care homes are small homes that care for only a handful of residents, typically 6-12. If your loved one does not wander or have any negative behaviors, this smaller setting may be a good option.
Not all San Diego board and care homes can care for seniors with dementia, including Alzheimer’s, but most do. Prices may also be more reasonable.
